The Casade of Colors

The Cascade of Colors Hot Air Balloon Festival will not be held in 2010. We hope to conduct the event in a future year. We thank all of the sponsors and attendees of our prior Hot Air Balloon events. We will post further news on the event to this site.

2010 Anniversary

Southern Illinois Airport will Celebrate 60 years of continuous operation on July 1st. It opened in 1950 as the Murdale Airport. 2010 will mark the largest construction period in the Airport's history with 6 new buildings slated for development at a combined cost of $78 million.

SIU's Anniversary's

Southern Illinois University Celebrates 50 years of Flight this fall. Begun in 1960. The Nationally Recognized SIU Flight Program has, substantially grown to serve over 200 students with more than 30 aircraft. Graduates of the program fly for most of the Nation's Airlines and many Corporate and General Aviation Businesses.

SIU Aviation Technology

Southern Illinois University's Aviation Technology Program Celebrates 45 years of Educating Aviation Mechanics, Helicopter Technicians and Avionics Specialists. This highly touted program has provided many Graduates to the Air Carrier and General Aviation Maintenance Industry.

Southern Illinois University Master's of Public Administration Program Celebrates 20 years of the Aviation Concentration Degree. Since 1990, Graduated of the Aviation Management Bachelors Program have continues on to obtain a Masters in Public Administration with an aviation concentration. Graduates are employed throughout the Government and Private Aviation Sector.
